Product Options Maintenance

This page allows you to enter Product Option Types (such as Color, Size)
and Product Customizations (space to enter text, such as "Enter Monogram").
Option Type
An option type is the characteristic that the shopper must choose to
complete the order of a product. For example, to order a t-shirt,
the shopper must specify size and color.
These are the option types. You must first define your option types, then
you will have an opportunity to specify the available options (shopper choices) for the option type.
To Add a New Set of Options
- Click on Add New Option Type.
- Enter an Option Label, such as "Size".
- Enter the choices for this option (e.g. "S," "M," "L," and "XL"
for size options). You can enter as many choices as you like,
even if some of your products will not use all of the choices you enter.
When you enter a product and select its options, you will have the
opportunity to specify the Option Types to use, AND to specify
which options underneath the option type you want for that particular product.
For example, product A may only come in sizes S, M, and L, while product B
comes in S, M, L, and XL.
- Click Save
Product Customization
A product customization is a free form text entry that the shopper
must enter to
complete the order of a product. For example, to order monogrammed towels,
the shopper must enter the monogram initials they wish to have embroidered on the towels.
You may set up as many product customizations as you wish to use in your store.
You will have an opportunity to specify the required customization text entries for each product.
Add a New Product Customization
- Click the Add New Customization button.
- Enter the Customization Label. This label tells the shopper what text they need to enter.
For example, "Enter Monogram Initials."
- Click Save.
Edit Option or Customization
- Click on the option type that you wish to edit.
- You can change the Option Label, or the Product Options, or you can
add more options for this option type. For a customization you can only change the label.
- Click Save.
Assigning Option Types and Options to Products
- Go to the Product Manager/Product Maintenance form. Locate the
product by selecting the category it is in. When the product is listed
in the right side list of products in that category, the first button
listed next to the product, links to the form to set the options for the
product. Click this button.
- You will be presented with a list of all the option types and customizations that you have
set up in your store. Each one will have a check box by it. The ones with product options will
have a list of available choices next to that. First click on the check boxes indicating
which product options you wish to include with this product. For each option type, select
the options that apply for this product (ie., S, M, L). You must hold down the CTRL key
while selecting the multiple options in a list box.
- When you are finished, click Save.
Deleting Options and Customizations
- Go to the Product Options main page.
- Click on the Delete checkbox next to the option or customization you wish to delete.
- Click Delete Selected.
- If the option type or customization is not being used in any products, the checked option types
will be deleted. Otherwise you will receive a message showing where the options are referenced and tell
you that it cannot be deleted.
