Categories
Definitions
Category Top level of all products and sub-categories for a store. A category can have products listed immediately beneath it, or have what are called sub-categories.
Sub-category Secondary level of products that allow you to further organize the products you wish to sell. For example; "Clothing" could be a category. "Men's," "Women's," etc. would be sub-categories.
You may have as many levels as you wish. Keep in mind that having too many levels will bother your shoppers. Also, too many products in one subcategory will bother your shoppers.
If at some point you want to break a sub-category down further, you will have to:
- Create a new sub-category.
- Create its sub-categories.
- Move the products, one by one, to their new subcategory.
- Either delete or inactivate the old sub-category
Product Actual item you are selling. Underneath the sub-category of "Women's," there may be other sub-categories, such as "Dresses", "Casual Wear", etc. If under Dresses you just list the dresses your store offers, these will be products. The levels end at product.
