Shipping Costs

Shipping Cost is the actual cost that you charge the customer. Below are instructions for using the three methods of shipping cost calculation.
Calculate by Order Cost
1. Select Add New Type.
2. Enter a name for the shipping type (Regular Mail, UPS, UPS Overnight, Federal Express, etc.).
3. In the Cost column, start with the lowest cost an item can ship at. Typically this is entered as 0.
4. In the second column, Shipping Cost, enter the shipping cost for this order amount.
5. Now move down (press Tab) to the next row. In order to list a range of 0 - $25 for the first shipping cost amount, in the second row, you will enter $25.01.
6. In the Shipping Cost column, enter the shipping cost for an order totaling greater than $25.00. Follow this pattern until complete.
7. Click Save.
8. Repeat Steps 1 - 7, until all Shipping Types you will offer your shoppers are entered.
What does this do to the shopper side?
On the shopper side of your Web site, this action shows your customer the following; "If your order total, before tax, is $25 or less your shipping cost is $xx." xx will be the amount you enter for this shipping cost.
Shipping is calculated automatically when the shopper selects their Shipping Method.
Calculate by Order Weight
You must go into each product and enter a weight for that product in order to use this Shipping Calculation Method.
1. Select Add New Type.
2. Enter a name for the shipping type. (Regular Mail, UPS, UPS Overnight, Federal Express, etc.)
3. In the Weight column, start with the lowest weight an item can have. Typically this is entered as 0.
4. In the second column, Shipping Cost, enter the shipping cost for this weight.
5. Now move down (press Tab) to the next row. In order to list a range of 0 - 25 pounds. for the first shipping cost amount, in the second row, you will enter 26.
6. In the Shipping Cost column, enter the shipping cost for an order weighing greater than 25 pounds. Follow this pattern until complete.
7. Click Save.
8. Repeat Steps 1 - 7, until all Shipping Types you will offer your shoppers are entered.
What does this do to the shopper side?
On the shopper side of your Web site, this action shows your customer the following; "If your total order weight is 25 lbs. or less your shipping cost is $xx." xx will be the amount you enter for this shipping cost.

Calculate by Order Item Count
1. Select Add New Type.
2. Enter a name for the shipping type. (Regular Mail, UPS, UPS Overnight, Federal Express, etc.)
3. Enter the shipping cost for one item.
4. Using the Tab key to move from one text box to the next, enter the incremental charge for each additional item. This amount will be added to the shipping cost for one item.
5. Click Save.
6. Repeat Steps 1 - 7, until all Shipping Types you will offer your shoppers are entered.
What does this do to the shopper side?
On the shopper side of your Web site, this action shows your customer the following; "Shipping for one item is $xx, for each additional item, please add $xxx." xx will be the amount you enter for the initial shipping cost, xxx is the incremental charge for each additional item.
Shipping is calculated automatically when the shopper selects their Shipping Method.
Inactivating a Shipping Type
- Go to the shipping type you wish to inactivate.
- Click on the box next to Active. If the type is active there will be a check mark in the box.
- The box should now be empty.
What does this do to the shopper side?
On the shopper side of your Web site, this action makes the Shipping Type unavailable to the customer. The shipping type will no longer show up on the shopper side of your Web site.
